Completed Projects

In October 2007 the PWB team of 9 young experienced performers travelled to India to embark on their first project. Over the course of 6 months they worked in 4 cities - Faridabad, Varanasi, Kolkata and Vijayawada - with 6 organisations Karm Marg, Asha Deep Vidyashram, Future Hope, Cini Asha, Women's Interlink Foundation and SKCV, and over 450 children.

On arrival in a new location the team put on the PWB show so the children can see what is possible and to be inspired to learn. The following month was spent teaching a whole range of circus and performance skills. This month culminated with the children putting on their own show to the community, thus generating a lasting sense of achievement.

The team were continually surprised by the enthusiasm of the children to engage and learn, and the speed in which they developed new skills. There are now many more hula-hoopers, diabolists and jugglers across India.

The children’s support workers were equally pleased by the focus, attention and team working we were able to generate. This was especially true of some children who would not engage with more traditional sports.

Most rewardingly; those organisations that provide an education for their children committed to including circus in their curriculum.
