PWB projects work under the following principles:
- Education should provide the child with a wide range of life skills and contain aspects of fun and playing.
- Self confidence development is key for the disadvantaged.
- Learning and developing performance skills has great rewards.
- Fostering cross cultural and community links benefits all involved.
- Development work is sustainable only through long term contact.
- The community is the main actor in development.
So far the main focus of PWB projects have been on circus. Why circus?
- It is an excellent form of exercise in a non-compeitive environment.
- It teaches children to work together towards a common goal.
- The basics are quick to learn giving the child a great sense of achievement.
- In order to advance, practice and dedication are required - teaching the children that learning can be fun.
- The teaching of circus is possible in an environment where more than one language is spoken.
- Circus can combine many other forms of performing arts such as theatre, dance and music.
